MIDWAY, Ky. - While still filling out his roster for the spring, new Midway men's and women's tennis coach
Roscoe Moonieyan will start his tenure with the Eagles in a fall season that begins this weekend.
The Eagles will take part in the first of three scheduled fall invitationals on Sunday when they play in the Georgetown Invitational on Sunday.
Below is a look ahead for the men's and women's teams, both of whom have finished as the River States Conference runner-up in each of the past three seasons.
MEN'S TEAM
Midway has brought back eight players from a season ago, headlined
2025 All-RSC selections
Ferran Clapes and
Izan Casado. Clapes, a sophomore, was a Second-Team honoree last season while Casado, a senior, made the Third Team.Â
They will be joined by four other players who appeared in at least eight matches a season ago, that group consisting of senior
Daniel Pinzon and juniors
Manuel Mirabal,
Aleksey Granitsa and
Tyler Fox.
Other returners are junior
Tyler Goldfine and sophomores
Nathan Garred and
Cameron Holbrook. Newcomers joining the squad this fall areÂ
Shimpei Yazuka and
Carson Odam.
WOMEN'S TEAM
Things are more unsettled on a women's roster that currently has just five players.
That group is highlighted by junior
Tanit Cevada, who finished 12-6 in singles and 11-6 in doubles last season on her way to making the
All-River States Conference Second Team.
Elsewhere, seniors
Raigan Allbert,
Haley Thompson and
Caitlin Wright all return with
Alicia Sanglas serving as the team's lone newcomer in the fall.
The Georgetown Invitational is slated to begin at noon Sunday.
