MIDWAY, Ky. — The Midway University women's soccer team looks to return to the win column on Sunday afternoon when it welcomes nearby Georgetown College to Midway Turf Field.
Kickoff between the Eagles and Tigers is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
Midway enters the matchup with a 2-2 record in the first season under head coach Bryce Brockman. After opening the campaign with consecutive victories over Berea and Defiance, the Eagles have dropped their last two contests against Indiana Tech and Johnson (Tenn.).
The Eagles will look to get their offense back on track after being held scoreless for the first time this season in Friday's loss to Johnson. Midway has scored five goals through its first four matches, with all five coming in the opening 45 minutes. The Eagles have yet to find the back of the net in the second half this season.
Chloe Kemper has been one of the early offensive leaders for Midway, scoring a team-high two goals while adding an assist for five points. Lacee Brown, Courtney Hale and Sloane Pollock have each found the back of the net once, while freshman Addison Hazlett leads the Eagles with two assists and has generated a team-high 14 shots.
Midway is also beginning to get healthier as the season progresses. Autumn Logan made her season debut against Johnson, while Courtney Milner has returned to the lineup and has appeared in two matches.
Scouting Georgetown
Georgetown makes the short trip to Midway with a 1-3-2 record and will also be looking to snap a two-match losing streak. The Tigers have already faced four River States Conference opponents this season, posting a 1-1-2 record in those contests.
The Tigers have scored six goals through six matches, with Faith Burnside accounting for half of them. Burnside leads Georgetown with three goals and two assists for eight points, while Morgan Imhoff has scored twice. Burnside has been the Tigers' biggest attacking threat, putting 12 of her 21 shots on goal.
Defensively, Olivia York has handled the majority of the work in goal. York has started all six matches and recorded 23 saves with one shutout. Georgetown has surrendered 16 goals overall while opponents are averaging one goal per match against the Tigers.
Sunday will also give Midway an opportunity to make history in the series. Georgetown owns an 8-0 advantage in the all-time matchup, leaving the Eagles in search of their first victory over the Tigers.
