MIDWAY, Ky. - A career-best game at Alice Lloyd Saturday earned Midway's
Alexys Moore the River States Conference's Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week award, the conference announced Monday.
In just 21 minutes of play, Moore scored 25 points
in a 96-80 Eagle victory. She scored 18 points in the first half and also had a team-best five steals in the victory.
The freshman from Tellico Plains, Tenn. has been a force on both ends of the floor, leading Midway with 16.2 points per-game while tying for the team lead with 13 steals.
Her efforts are a big reason why the 4-1 Eagles entered the week 12th in the NAIA in scoring at 91.2 points per-game while forcing an average of 29.4 turnovers, the NAIA's eighth-highest total.
Moore is the second Eagle to win an RSC weekly award this season, after
A'Lyrica Hughes was named the league's top defensive player
two weeks ago.
She is the first Midway player to win Offensive Player of the Week in nearly two years, the last being
Kassidy Daugherty on
Nov. 20, 2023.
Already off to its best start in over two decades, Midway will look to improve to 5-1 on Wednesday against in-state foe Union (0-4) at Marshall Gymnasium. The game tips at 5:30 p.m.
