MIDWAY, Ky. - For the second week in a row, Midway has earned a River States Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week award, the honor this time going to
Ferran Clapes Ballart.
Ballart went 4-0 across singles and doubles in an unbeaten week for Midway, which included
a 4-3 upset over NCAA Division-II Cedarville and
a 6-1 conference win against Shawnee State.Â
Splitting his time between No. 1 and 2 singles this season, Ballart has put together a 5-1 record while also going 5-2 in doubles, where he has played at Nos. 1, 2 and 3. His play has helped the 6-3 Eagles enter the final week of the regular season with a 4-0 mark in the RSC.
This is the first Player of the Week award for Ballart and the third honor for the Eagle men this season. The other two went to
Ricardo Starosta, who earned his first
on March 16 before capturing
a second last week.
Midway will host Asbury on senior day at 2 p.m. Tuesday before traveling to face fellow conference unbeaten Oakland City in the regular-season finale Saturday. The winner of that match will be the No. 1 seed at the RSC Tournament, which will be held April 23-25.
