MIDWAY, Ky. - A dominant weekend at the plate earned a River States Conference Player of the Week award for Midway senior infielder
Britten Robinson.
Robinson had a .461 average with nine RBIs, four runs scored and several clutch plays to lead the Eagles to a three-game sweep of Indiana Columbus.Â
Down 4-1 in the sixth inning of game one, Robinson delivered a two-run single. Then, with the score tied in the seventh, he came through with the go-ahead RBI
in what became a 6-5 win.
Robinson then began the scoring in game two of the series with a two-run, second-inning home run. That started a five-RBI gameÂ
in a 12-2 win.
Robinson, who added another RBI in an 11-2 win in the final game of the series, is the third Eagle to win a Player of the Week award this season. The previous winners were pitchers, with
Jesse Komoroski winning
on Feb. 10 and
Jackson Lee winning
on March 3.
He is the first Eagle to win an offensive award since
Grant Hotchkiss got the honor
on April 18, 2023.
Still looking to lock up a spot in the six-team RSC Tournament, the Eagles will conclude the regular season with a three-game series against Brescia in Owensboro, Ky. this Friday and Saturday. The two teams enter the series in a tie for fifth-place in the conference standings.
