MIDWAY, Ky. - An excellent first week of college competition got even better for Midway freshman
Sloane Pollock, who was named River States Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Pollock accounted for all four goals Midway scored in a pair of season-opening matches.
The highlight came in the opener at Berea on Aug. 26, when she scored from roughly 30 yards out with just under six minutes to play, helping the Eagles
escape with a 2-2 tie.
Her positive momentum carried into Saturday, where she scored twice in the first half, as the Eagles left Defiance (Ohio) with their first win of the season
by the final of 2-0.
This marks the third year in a row an Eagle player has won an RSC Player of the Week award following the opening games of a season.
Evie Clare and
Caylee Thompson were named
Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week to start 2023, with
Haylee Applegate winning the
Offensive award last season.
The Eagles won't have a chance to repeat this week, as they are off until a Sept. 13 road matchup against Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.)
Monday was a great day for Midway freshman soccer players, as fellow rookie Rhys Dickson also won the
RSC Offensive Player of the Week award on the men's side.
